Art@Ancrum is a very special arts and crafts event in the Scottish Borders. Held annually, it takes place in the village of Ancrum near Jedburgh. The event is spread out around the village with several of the residents offering rooms for the visiting artists to show their work off. The event has always attracted a large number of visitors to the village, and it has always been a pleasure just wandering round, in and out of the various venues, chatting to artists and householders alike.
After a few years attending the event, I promised myself I would get my act together and apply to show off some of my pictures. And this year it was actually going to happen.
Sadly the virus got the better of Art@Ancrum this year, just as I’d summoned up the courage to put some pictures out in public too. It would have been my first appearance there (or anywhere, actually!) But having a website means I can still at least do an online exhibition stand.
Thanks to Ian Oliver and Geof Hickey, and the organising team at Ancrum, for affording me the opportunity to show off my work, and thanks to Art@Ancrum for continuing to support the artists invited this year, albeit virtually.
So here are the pictures, and the specially published book, that I would have shown at Ancrum this year. All the pictures are available for purchase unmounted, unframed. They will be printed on lustre paper either 18″ by 12″ or 12″ square, including the border, as shown. I will supply all pictures unmounted and unframed so you can pick the frame of your choice. Priced at £55 per image. You’ll find an order form at the bottom of this page.

The Light in the Shadows
I published The Light in the Shadows earlier this year in readiness for Art@Ancrum. It tells the stories of eleven of my favourite images from early experiments with film through to more up-to-date pictures from a few months ago.
In total there are over 15 images, both colour and monochrome, in the A4 sized paperback book for you to enjoy. The articles about the pictures are versions of the Backstories I tell on my website, specially edited for print. You’ll find details of why I took the photographs and what they say to me. Some of them tell the story of how I took the pictures while others concentrate more on what they remind me of.
Please fill in your name and other details and indicate which pictures and how many you would like in this form. I will confirm what the cost is, and send you details of how you can make payments, either by bank transfer or by cheque, and give you some indication of a delivery date.
All these images are printed on demand – I don’t hold a stock of them – and will therefore take a few days to reach you.
